Well it has happened. My body has recovered and rebuilt itself as quickly as it did in induction therapy. I was officially discharged today at 2pm from the hospital on Day +15. They say that everyone's body responds differently to the treatment but everyone seemed surprised with how quickly my marrow rebuilt.
Yesterday I was actually given a pass to leave the hospital. So last night I went for a little walk outside to get some fresh air. It was actually perfect because it was snowing for my walk. For those that know me they know that I love being out in precipitation whether it be rain or snow. It made me so how happy to be out on the quiet street in the snow.
Today it was the big day. It didn't seem as surreal leaving the hospital this time as after induction. This mainly was due to the fact this hospital stay wasn't a surprise like the last one and I had made my peace with going back to the hospital before going in. With that said I am so happy to be home again sitting in my lazy boy with Dora and Amy beside me. I am also very excited for our little family to be back sleeping in our bed together.
I still have a long journey towards recovery from the transplant but it is exciting to be recovering at home. I need to make sure I am very careful up until a minimum of 90 days because I am still fairly immunosuppressed.
I was sent a quote today that I wanted to share with everyone, it seems like the perfect mantra for living life. I hope everyone's 2011 reflections are going well. I would love to hear about them :)
Carry a heart that never Hates
Carry a smile that never Fades
Carry a touch that never Hurts
Always have a purposeful day!

An amazing conclusion to an amazing journey. I know it's not concluded YET but at least the hospital stays are! You must have loved your walk in the snow....I could sense it in your words....I probably would have cried out on that sidewalk if I were you then and there. Stay away from any and all of those mean old germs for the next 3 months okay!!! Great, great news Aaron. You're one strong dude!
