You might be wondering why the first thing you see in a post about My New Monotone world is a colour image. As many of you know I have been experimenting with my photography over the past week by delving into the world of monotone images.
Last year when I took up photography I spent a lot of time learning how to see colours and how they contrast with each other. This first image is the first photograph I took on my last walk. I was drawn to the red jacket against the green trees. After I took the picture and I looked down at my camera I quickly learnt that great contrasting colours don’t always look great in monotone. I realized in order to get quality monotone photos I would need to start paying attention to different things like contrasting light and shades.
To make things a little more complicated on myself I have been focusing on candid photography in monotone. So not only have I been trying to train my eyes to see different things, but I am also looking for I have to catch photos that tell a story that I find interesting. It has really been a fun undertaking so far. Here are my best monotone images from the past week. As always I would love to hear your comments about which are your favorites and why.
